Meet the San Diego Team Behind Calder Gate Repair San Diego

We’re a small crew by design. Every Calder gate repair technician in San Diego works under the same roof, shares the same truck stock, and answers to the same standard that Nico set when he opened this location. No subcontractors, no rotating cast of strangers at your driveway. The person who answers your call knows the person who’ll show up. When a gate jams at 11 p.m. in Chula Vista or a swing arm gives out in Carlsbad, one of us handles it from first ring to final test cycle.

Our People

Marcus T. – Lead Technician, Electric Gate Systems

Marcus has thirteen years in low-voltage and line-voltage gate automation, and he’s the person we send when a gate behaves in a way that doesn’t match any diagram. He’s factory-trained on LiftMaster, DoorKing, and FAAC control boards and can usually identify a failed relay or capacitor by ear before he pulls the cover. Marcus keeps a notebook in his truck with the serial numbers of every opener he’s rebuilt, which sounds obsessive until he uses it to diagnose a repeat failure in under ten minutes. He’s originally from National City and still refuses to work on his own driveway gate because, in his words, “a man needs one project he can ignore.”

Elena R. – Senior Installer, Gate Opener Repair & Replacement

Elena runs our heavier structural jobs: cantilever slides, full opener swaps, and the occasional gate that’s sagged so badly the post needs re-setting before the automation can work. She’s our BFT and Viking specialist and carries the torque specs for both brands in her head, which matters when you’re re-drilling a plate on a sloped Rancho Bernardo driveway. Before Calder, Elena built deck and stair steel for a fabricator in Miramar, so she welds clean and measures twice. She keeps a small terrarium of succulents on her workbench at the shop, mostly because they survive the dry spells when she’s out on calls all week.

Danny K. – Service Coordinator & Live-Answer Lead

Danny is often the voice you get when you call (619) 541-7844 at 2 a.m. because your gate opened halfway and stopped. He’s not a call center transfer. He knows our San Diego service map street by street, can tell you whether the tech is coming from the shop in Kearny Mesa or finishing a call in Encinitas, and he’s got enough hands-on training to walk a homeowner through a safe manual release over the phone while help is on the way. Danny tracks the live arrival time for every dispatch and updates it minute by minute, not in four-hour blocks. He’s also the reason we start every Monday with a full truck inventory list instead of a guess.

June P. – Apprentice, Gate Repair

June joined Calder San Diego two years ago through a welding program at San Diego City College and has worked her way from cleaning sensor lenses to running independent diagnostics on Mighty Mule and Ghost Controls residential openers. She’s the one who double-checks safety loops and photo eye alignment after every install, which is the kind of repetitive work that prevents a gate from closing on a car or a kid. June rides with Marcus or Elena most days and has already mastered the fine art of translating homeowner descriptions (“it makes a grinding sound, like a dying coffee grinder”) into actual mechanical problems. She’s currently restoring a 1970s bicycle she found at a yard sale in Golden Hill.

One Standard, Every Job

Every Calder Gate Repair San Diego technician works under the same three rules, and none of them are optional. First: you get a written price before we start, so the number you agree to at the door is exactly the number on the invoice. Second: every repair carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise by name and in writing. If the repair fails within 365 days, Calder returns at no charge, period. Third: if that second visit doesn’t hold either, we keep coming back until it’s right. It’s the same standard every Calder location in the Relay Home Co. family operates under, but this crew is the one answering in San Diego. The Relay Standard isn’t a brochure phrase to us. It’s a booking-to-invoice sequence we run every day: live arrival time, before-and-after photos, and a digital invoice you pay from a link. No surprises, on any call, for any gate, in any San Diego neighborhood.
